i did it i just keeped french language , and ended with one dvd-r. no reencoding needed

you will have to remove either the begining credits or ending credits for it to fit (strip VOB ID). If not then you will have to split the movie.

i made it without removing anything.....
just remove unnecessary vob id and languages.

Ya I just stripped the opening credits and everything worked out fine on to one DVD-R
