Ok I am really stupid.I tried to read other threads so I wouldn't ask a stupid question,but it looks like I am still going to have to ask it.Say by chance i knew someone who might want to look at a site to get music and movies downloads.Could someone tell me which is the best site for that with no ads and viruses..not worried about porn etc will dlete if i don't want ..but don't want viruses.Also give me a step by step guide to once i get to that website what to do next..I have windows xp with the service pak, pop up blocker.Should i dump that firewall?I also have no antivirus (its outdated)Then let me know if i need to download anything else to actually be able to get the music or movies off the site(you know hypothetically)then to my computer.Also once there ,what do i need to put them on a dvd disc..What program dvd santa (i read about etc)I would greatly appreciate it ..sorry for the long thread.

right. first you must know that if you download copyrighed materials, it is illegal. The Main P2P services are win MX, Kazaa, Bit torrent and limewire. i recommend, as a beginner, you choose limewire. basically, type in www.limewire.com and you will get the welcome screen come up. there is a link on the page called "get it now". click on that and oce you have downloaded it, you have to do a few basic steps like chose language etc. firewall doesn't really affect P2P if it is configured so theres no need to 'dump it'. While you are installing it you may get a warning sign from the windows firewall(or whatever firewall/internet securuity service you are using). it will probably say something like "limewire is attemting to connect to a dns server" at this point you should change your firewal to "permit always" or "allow always". Then you are ready to go! the interface is a doddle to use and should't be a problem. just type in what you want to download and click "search"

by the way limewire had no adware, and you only get viruses sometimes if you download programs. But that cant be helped and is the same with all p2p progs. but mucic/video&pics are all safe from viruses
