I have it on good authority that the BenQ 1620's have been producing some amazing burns with quality media,

Yo neph, you bet your sweet a** that they are very good. Incredible compatability on a slew of stand alones and pc drives that I play them on. I've got 2 of them and wouldn't trade them for anything.Over 1500 burns on my main benq.

Omegam14, Those nec's are also very good. You'll be ok with it.

How'd you know my bum's sweet? :P

I've an extra bay that's just screaming to be filled and I've been thinking about slapping a BenQ in it. Do the 1625's have the same great burning characteristics as the 1620's? I'd like to have the LightScribe capability for labeling the CDs I make for playing in my truck.

I'm not sure about the benq lightscribes. My dad just got a new hp pc and it has the hp lightscribe in it.I'm not much of a hp dvd burner fan. I downloaded DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink on it,but haven't tried it yet.I'd like to burn a few test discs to check out their compatability on his and my own pc drives and stand alones before i get him some lightscribe media.

Either one will be a great drive so you can take your pick. Personally I'm pretty close to ordering a BenQ 1620 or 1625. Decisions, decisions :P
