Sounds like its overheating. Make sure it has plenty of air circulation room. Check yr fan is operational & free from dirt/dust build up.

Sorry my bad, thought it was all the time. I would think the mod the likely culprit. I personally have done 100s of mods (ghost, DMS 3/4, Apple, Messiah etc etc), I reckon U cant go past SwapMagic 3.3/3.6 for installation ease & bootability (if there is such a word)+ SlimTool(PSTwo), Slidecard(PS2), or Dix_Fix(PS2).

This happened to my v5 PS2 but with originals. And I had to install another motherboard and it worked. I installed an old motherboard of another ps2 that my friend gave me it was a v5 ps2. And it never gave me that problem. If you dont want to get a new ps2 try getting another ps2 that doesnt work. And replace the motherboard with the other one and see if it works. Good luck.

I think if you take it out, the motherboard would still be damaged. You can try getting another one.

take the modchip off then test your backups.you could make your own slidecard to do it.or you could take off the cover and put the game in manually for testing purposes(be careful not to yank the cover off and pull the reset ribbon off).make sure its not the modchip before you go buy another ps2.

when you use the swap magic do you push the square button(special boot) instead of the x button(normal boot) to load the backup?ive heard you have to do that with no solder modchips.
