Hey, I actually created this account to ask this question.

I have two .iso files of PS2 games on my computer. What program(s) should I use to burn them to DVD? I've heard of Nero, Disc Juggler, Alcohol 120%, DAEmon Tools, and many more. Could somebody more experienced than me just give me some insight? Thank you.

Either Nero or DVD Decrypter is fine. However, you have to pick the MDS file to back up for DVD Decrypter though, if you're not rebuilding the game. Simple as that.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

Okay, I just used Nero version 6.? to burn the PS2 ISO to a DVD+R. Now I put the swap disc in, and swap the discs, I can only get to the copyright screen, and wont go any farther. Do you think it's because of the way I burnt the game? Should I try DVD Decryptor? I don't want to waste too many blank DVDs; they're not mine. Once again, any help is greatly appreciated.

What game are you trying to backup? Some games need patches or need to be rebuilt to play with Swap Magic. Or you need DVD Loader to boot the games.

@skcin7,

What version is your PS2 console? If it's v1 - v4, then when backing up games using DVD+R disc, you need to set the "booktype" settings to "DVD-ROM", this will make your PS2 to read/load/play easier. What PS2 games are you trying to back up and how big is the file (i.e 4.5GB, 4.3GB, 4.9GB)? If it's any over 4.7GB then you need to rebuild this to make it smaller, so it'll fit into a DVD5(DVD-R/DVD+R). Did you downloaded the ISO files from the net or did you ripped it from an original into your hard drive? If you happened to get it from the internet, then perhaps the ISO file is corrupted. The following are a few basic steps to back up PS2 games using either DVD Decrypter or Nero.

******** Backing up PS2 games using DVD Decrypter *********
===== NOTE: To read and decrypt only, if you already have an ISO/MDS files in your hard drive then you don't need to do this =======

A) go to your c: drive or Hard drive, File, New Folder, name it MYPS2BACKUP, hit [ENTER] to "Save" it, then EXIT out.
B) put blank DVD-R/+R in dvd burner (I recommend good quality medias such as "Made In Japan" FUJI/Taiyo Yuden, Maxell, Sony and Verbatim)
C) put original in dvd rom drive
D) open up DVD Decrypter, MODE, ISO, READ R
E) "source" <-- this is the original PS2 game from dvd rom drive
F) "destination" <-- browse to your New Folder you created earlier "MYPS2BACKUP", hit "OPEN", then "SAVE"
G) click on "DECRYPT", sit back, relax, go smoke, or watch TV until it's completed

AA) once Decrypter done reading/decrypting go to MODE, ISO, WRITE W
BB) "source" <-- browse to your newly MDS file inside your "MYPS2BACKUP" folder, and "OPEN", then "OPEN"
CC) "destination" <-- set it to your dvd burner with a good blank ready to back up/write
DD) click on "WRITE", that's it.

(((((( To back up PS2 games using Nero Express ))))))))
===== NOTE: game file must be under 4.3GB or it won't back up =====

A) open Nero Ultra, or StartSmart, click on Express
B) click on "DVD tab" on drop down menu, go to "COPY and BACKUP" icon, click on "BURN Image to Disc", and browse to your "Folder[MYPS2BACKUP] or to get the "source" where your file is at, then hit "OPEN"
C) on "Writing Speed", set it to 2.4X or to the blank media's capabilities that stated on the disc
D) click on "NEXT", and BURN, that's it... easy as smoking.

(((To change booktype into DVD-ROM using NERO)))

01) open up your Nero program
02) click on Nero Express, click on "Copy Entire Disc"
03) click on "Options" this is on the right, next to "source drive"and "destination drive"
04) on lower left hand, where you see "booktype settings", use arrow down to high lighted the "Automatic" option, then click "OK" to change it. That's it.... you're done and now whenever you're going to use either Nero's Burning Rom, Express, Recode 2 or Nero's vision, it will "automatically" change the booktype into "dvd-rom" in prior to the actual backing up process.

Hope this help you a little. I did this to my Nero and all my PS2 games and DVD movies have successfully backed up in a DVD-ROM format.

Happy burnings...!!!

I downloaded both .iso images from the internet. The games are Destroy All Humans! (4.3 GB), and Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana (2.42 GB). I used BitTorrent to obtain them, and everybody who posted comments about the torrents seemed to get the game working without a problem. I'm not sure what version PS2 I have, I think it's a version 7 but I'm not sure, the model number is SCPH-39001.

My brothers friend burnt me several PS2 games on DVD+R which I can get working no problem with my Swap Magic 2.0 discs, but I don't know how he burnt them. I just bought 50 DVD+R discs, so I'm going use a few to see if I can get this working. Let's see if it makes a difference if I change the booktype in Nero........
