but take the PS2 completely apart, grab some isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip and get to scrubbing.

But how can I pull the PS2 apart and then use alchohol and wipe the laser or what?

but get yourself a phillips screwdriver. Flip your PS2 on its top. Take out the little rubber feet on the bottom and start unscrewing. Open up the PS2. Look for more screws that may be blocking your view of the laser. If you dont see which ones they are, look around the disk tray. Take those out (usually a smaller jewelers screwdriver, still phillips). Get in there and start doing it. Seeing it for yourself will help you a great deal. Its a lot easier when you can see it in front of you. As long as you can remember how to put it all back together again, dont be afraid to take it apart and figure it out yourself.

no, not at all... unless you intentionally break something... All it is, is a couple of integrated circuits, a laser assembly, some grounding straps, metal heat shielding and lots of plastic. Nothing really breakable. The only thing to watch for on later model PS2s is the ribbon cable that goes to the top of the PS2 unit that controls the power/eject buttons... other than that, its all pretty durable.

you probabily havent gotten all the screws, look under the rubbed feet, if you pop the tops off you'll find more screws under need them.

by the way,if void your warrenty by (mess up) then yes you will definatly mess up your ps2, but if your carefull down worry you should cause any damage, just remember where everything goes.
