Hi I'm getting the below error log while trying to burn a data dvd with my toshiba P15-S409 laptop (which has a Matshita UJ-811 dvd/ram burner). Can someone help? I'm using Fuji Film DVD-R's. Thanks!!!

as you haven't got an NEC laptop - this is the latest firmware for your burner (version H102) - http://121ware.com/support/download/003/811bh102.exe

:( Still no luck! I've uninstalled Nero - and installed the crappy piece of software "Drag'n Drop" that came with the system - didn't help. Still get'n burn errors.
Can someone PLEASE PLEASE help me?!?!?!

have you managed to update the firmware yet ?.
also, this might help - run Nero's info-tool , click on the save icon, save the info & paste it here; it's a long logfile but it may well help

i don't know. Until we get that firmware to stick, we're not gonna know. at this point it seems the stumbling block is an inadequate or fussy firmware updater. I guess the only other thing to try would be to put the burner in another laptop to try to get the firmware to update. Other than that would be to try other media (but you might have same problems with drive not recognising other discs), or last resort is buy new drive i s'pose..

Creaky: Thanks for the info on the firmware upgrade. Can you help me with it, though. My brother-in-law is having trouble with his UJ-811. It's in a Toshiba P15-S479 laptop. I know the Panasonic upgrade to H102 contains the letters rh instead of bh (811BH102.exe). I've flashed my BenQ OEM many times and am not concerned with the procedure. But. and since, this is not my computer, I'm trying to make him comfortable with the thought he won't lose his drive. Can you tell me, is the BH software right for his Toshiba. I believe it is but would like to know if you've encountered anyone that has successfully flashed this firmware on Toshiba. One last thing, to change the subject. I've deleted WINDWFLASH from my computer and can't find it anywhere on net. I'm thinking of crossflashing and would like it. Do you know if it exists anywhere? Many thanks, hope you get this post.

hi, no worries...
according to this link - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1750 the first H102 ie 'bh' update would probably be for your friend's drive as the second H102 'rh' is listed for being only for drives supplied with NEC laptops..
there's loads of hits on google for 'WINDWFLASH' so ou should find that ok

Just wondering if you know anything about the Matshita UJ-811 for Alienware Laptops. I've had this laptop for a while and I haven't been very pleased with how this drive works. Sometimes it reads the DVD-R disc sometimes it doesn't. I've had better luck with JVC DVD-R discs and not with memmorex. So firmware ideas or any ideas would be helpful.
