someone piz help

i was on the middle of computing and the computer shut up itself and i can't seen to restart it

my spec are amd 3200, hitachi 160gb 8Mb, 512pc3200, Gigabyte k8ns nforce , and fx5700

possibility is the psu but check for some things 1st. look at the motherboard at the can shaped objects, those are capacitors & the tops should be flat not domed. disconnect all data & power cables from the drives. removes all cards & ram from the motherboard than power up the system to see if 1 of the things you removed was causing a short

Have you overclocked your computer? I had a similar problem before. I have a 3.0ghz p4 and i overclocked it to 3.6, it ran smoothly but i did this one thing, and everything shut down. Now my processor is 3.3ghz, but this is what i did to fix it.

When my computer shut downed, i couldnt turn it back on. Since overclocking is done in the BIOS, i had to reset the bios while the computer was off. One way to reset the BIOS is: next to the battery, the big flat one, there is this thing (i forgot what you call it), let me describe it, it a little rectangular thing that is on 2 pins, take it off and switch it in the other two. If it has 3 pins then simply put in on the middle and other one. | |=rectangular thing and iii=pins. Like this this is how your pins should look like now |ii|i after you movie it, it should look like this: i|ii|.

Once you move it push the power button, nothing is going to turn on, now switch it rectangular thing back. Now it should turn on. Go in bios and fix your clock and everything you need to do.

By the way, when messing with the motherboard, make sure you turn the switch in the back of your computer to off, and turn it on when your pressing the power button.

I know this is very confusing, just either write me a post or i.m. me on aim, my sn is litoneeil. I'll help you.

But if you did not overclock your computer, ignore everything i just said, and hopefully this will be useful to someone down the line.

ddp, a shunt goes into your brain to drain fluid to reduce pressure build up, thus reducing the effects of swelling of the brain. A jumper is the correct term for this thread. :)

worked at celestica for just over 4yrs working on circuit board. can call it a shunt or jumper
