Hello all. I don't know a lot about computers and lately I need desperate helps from you guys. I used a Toshiba laptop with an extra external hard drive (Buffalo brand). It worked out fine until one day I plug in another portable hard drive into my system. I turned on both hard drive (with Buffalo comes later) and ever since then I have start up problem with my Buffalo hard drive. It always in the reading mode and 1 out of 10 tries it'll stop reading, but the computer doesn't recognize this hard drive. It becomes "local disk" and I just couldn't find any files in this hard drive anymore. It now becomes a FAT32 drive. According to its properties, the hard disk space is 130gb out of 150gb are being used. With that being said, the hard drive appears empty and I couldn't find my old file!
I understand a simple click of "Format" would solve the problems but I really wanna save all my pictures for the last 3 years plus important documents. I'm really desperate and hopefully someone out there would like to help me to solve this problem! Thanks million times in advance.

I dont really understand your question, the way im interpretting it is that you are plugging 2 external harddrives in the same laptop at the same time...correct me if im wrong.
Hi, thz for the reply. I've tried ddp's advise but the computer still labeled that drive as "local drive" and I still can't find any files in the drive. Looks like it's empty but when I click on to its property option, the used space indicates that the files still remain in the hard drive. I guess my problem is I cannot read whatever is in the hard drive.
Unfortunately I don't have another computer to see if it works on others. But yesterday I just reinstall window and see if that fix the problem. No luck apparently =(
Any other ideas how can I solve this problem?

Sorry to keep bothering u but should I uninstall this "Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE1394 Host Controller"? I don't wanna mess it up again you know? And after uninstalling it just restart windows, right?
Sorry ddp, I've tried that and it didn't work=( Any other ways we can fix it without reformatting it? All I want is to get everything out from the HD, back them up in DVD and reformat the problem hard drive.Thanks
