It might be your DVD-R....i was using this type or this brand of DVD-R and it took forever to load, but when i switched to a new one...it loaded like a normal/original games, so its probably your dvd-rs and you should try other dvd-rs and see which one is the best for you

stop useing this band and start use verbatim R- , Are you talking dvds or dvd games, Just because your dvds back up ok it's not the same when it comes to ps2 dvd games, Just like memorex disc are ok for dvds, But are the worst thing for ps2 dvd game back ups. There is a program call DISC IDENTIFIER download it and what you do is after you install it open up the program and you can put in a blank dvd into your nec dvd burner and CLICK ON IDENTIFY it will tell you things like where the disc was made DISC AND BOOK TYPE,MANUFACTURER NAME,ect..what you want to know is the MANUFACTURER ID. It should look like this MCC,CMC...ect. write back and let us know what it is and then I can tell you if it's your arita 4x pink top DVD-R or not.

The best way to find out what media to use as far as R+ or R-, Is to burn GTA and see witch one loads faster and plays better, it should be easy to to see, For me it was R+ good luck
