I was in the middle of downloading Big Brother 6 Episode 3(the newest one) and it seemed to be going at normal speed to me(40 KB/s with DSL) when a pop-up came saying that the tracker couldnt connect to me or something of that nature and my download speed was going to suffer(again something of that nature). And it did suffer cuz it fell to 20KB/s after that message.

In the pop-up it showed me my isp and port setting-which i have set at 53000 cuz i read in this forum somewhere to put it at that. Then it said to check my firewall and router settings, but I have neither.

I am using the official bittorrent client.

So what's the problem? Thanks for the help.

It came up again so here is exactly what it says:

"Big.Brother.US.S06E03.Eviction.XviD-[head].avi" : warning from tracker - Unable to connect to your incoming data port (XX.XXX.XXX.XX:53000). This will result in slow downloads. Please check your firewall/router settings

what bt client are you running? ... you said you didn't have a firewall, you should think about getting one (zonealarm's free), just generally speaking

Did you try another port? 6881-6889 were originally BT ports, but they are throttled by a lot of ISp's inconspicuously.

Try porting from 30000+, if all your ports are blocked, you have a firewall enabled that you don't know about(one from your ISP or it's sub-shield)

Kindly, call your ISP and get them to probe your connection to verify eveything is good on thier end.

On your end, you may have low connectivity, if you're on cable, your modem may need a reset, your winsock catalog may need a reset.

Keep on top of your ISP like shit on a stick, always verify things are good on thier end, because then you know its your end.

Just some ideas.
