The AD Home Page is running a news item about the new firmware for the Pioneer AO9:

http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/6652.cfm

This really isn't a drive question ... more of a backup question.

Can anyone define what is meant by "Support Multiborder recording on DVD-R DL Media". For years I have been splitting my backups over 2 disks to keep 100% quality but I'm gonna be trying backups on DL soon and want to know how this will benefit the DL process. Pioneer's firmware changelogs are always so abbreviated and cryptic!

Thanks

Thank you colw. I was all over Pioneer's site but I missed your PDF. I would have just dubbed the technique "Mult-Session". Sounds like I could put a single-layer original movie on one layer and another on the second layer. That would make presently high priced DL -R disks more cost effective ... or maybe it only works for +R media. Not sure if I'd do that but there are probably other applications I haven't thought of.

Now I've gotta see if my JVC single disk player and my JVC 7-disk changer will play Multibourder -R/+R disks.

Thanks again
