About a week ago my DVD burner (Sony DVD RW DW-U18A) was working fine when I burned a DVD movie using CloneDVD2. (Operating system=Windows XP Pro).
Now, it still reads and plays CD's & DVD's perfectly, but will not burn them.
When I click on the drive in Windows explorer, with a blank CD or DVD in the drive, Windows returns an error message, Quote: D:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function. Under Windows Device Manager, it shows the device as working & under the Volumes Tab it populates the blank DVD OK (capacity/space, zero of course).
As far as I can recall, I have not installed any new software or updates since the last time I used it to burn a DVD.
Finally my question: Could this be a software problem, or has the burning function of the DVD drive simply crapped out, i.e. time to buy a new burner?
P.S: DVD Identifier is able to analyze & identify the disk.
