I just buy a new DVD burner and VHS this is a sanyo drw 1000.

I will like use it to burn all my VHS to DVD.This burner create a structure of VIDEO_TS .BUP .IFO .VOB. I am looking to take a DVD with the contents of my VHS in it and transfert to my computer disk. I will like to be able to edit create and change files menus and copy only section of the video files to a new DVD with only the select information. I am wondering what is the best way to acheive this. What is the best sofware package i should buy

This is going to be a lot more work than you may think, but it is possible. In my opinion the best software package you could purchase to accomplish this is Nero6 Ultra Edition.

You will need to capture your video to your Hard drive and this can be done by using a Video capture card or USB video capture device. I am not sure if you can copy directly from your VCR to a DVD because of copy protection I don't believe you can so you would need to capture your VHS movie to the hard drive.

Then you can use Nero Vision Express to Edit/create menus/and burn your DVD..

I have done a few movies this way but it is very time consuming so I just usually go to WalMart and repurchase the movie on DVD the older ones are only $7 there :-)

the Sanyo dvd burner is my DVD VIDEO Recorder combine in my home intertertement system I can capture video vhs to burn on the DVD I am taking this DVD copy on my computer using my DVD on my computer, Start from there I want cut and redo on new DVD to send only part to my family if we now understand exacly what I am looking for This Nero pack still the best buy

Yeah then you can load those files into NeroVision Express and edit them even adding menus. :-) You can download a fully functional trial version that works for 30 days to see if it works for you. If you need a little help with the program there is a guide at my website showing you how to do the basics (link in sig)
