I'm trying to backup some of my ps2 games.. like gta3 for example. Ive successfully got the gta3 iso on my hard drive with dvd decrypter.. but when i tried burning it to a dvd-r with my dvd burner.. it stalls out at like 13% both with dvd decrypter write, and nero. i'm using a blank maxell 8x dvd-r, is there anyone who can give me helpful advice or some steps to go by?

What dvd burner are you using?
The only other thing I can think of that it might be other than your burner is that maybe you have programs running in the background or something when you are trying to burn the disc.
before burning, make sure that nothing can interfere with the burn process... if you have internet connection, turn it off. then turn off the virus scanner, spyware blaster etc.
Personally, I have a pretty decent system that I built myself and haev enough ram etc to not let stuff like that worry me. But it sounds as if something is interupting the burn process and causing your buffers to fail...leaving you with a coaster.
so just try what I said and see if that makes a difference.

don't forget to turn your balster/virusscan etc back on before connecting your internet back up by the way... best way to do this is to reboot the system.

If this doesn't work, tell us a bit more about what system specs you have etc... might help someone think of a solution for you.

I have a AMD Sempron 3000+, with 512 MB Ram, Windows XP, a TSSTcorp dual-layer dvd burner, and I made sure all programs were shut down when the burn process began. I was wondering if it was the media.. the game i'm trying to burn.. or something else. Thanks for your help.

well, I don't think it's the game... I backed this game up with no probs whatsoever. Haven't heard of your particular dvd burner, so don't know what media would go best with it.
What speed are you trying to burn at?

Try some different media in it... I would suggest getting hold of something like ritek or taiyo yuden discs.. i think they're probably the most compatable with most burners out there.

Your system specs don't sound too bad... but would suggest some more ram when you can afford it...winxp is pretty hungry on ram.

Ok, let me know how it's going... gonna try and help if I can

if the burner is 6 months or more old, you may also want to try updating the firmware for it.
