I'm losing my mind trying to search these forums for a definative answer to my problem. I keep finding obscure posts from people saying they're doing it, but not the explanation how.
How do I get PS2 DVD-R backups "converted" onto the HDD using HDAdvance 2.0?
I understand the software can't boot a backup, same as the PS2, but I CAN get it to being the process using the DVD swap disk, but there's noway for me to swap it to the game disk after.
Not only does the swap disk not stop spinning, but even using the flip top to remove the spinning disk and quickly put back in the game disk, it just hangs the console completely.
Is there noway to install a game already backed up to a DVD-R disk using HDAdvance 2.0 and a swap disk?
I feel like I'm missing something simple here but can't find it.
Hi I have both HD Loader and HD Advance USA 1.0 DVD. A few days ago I was having the same problem you were, but I've figured it out. On HD Loader, after you push install it will tell you to insert cd/dvd,so I push eject and insert swap magic 3.6 DVD, and let it go for about 45 seconds then quickly open the flip top (the disc is still spinning) and swap. Now push ok, If it takes you to the name screen you've done it right and it should install the backup. I'm not sure if HD Advance does it too but if not HD Loader is free so look around. One thing that I learned is that HD Advance can put PS2 CD backups on the hdd, just by swapping the disc once. try this out if you need anymore help pm me. and you're right there isn't much info on this topic. Most people will tell you it can't be done because THEY can't do it................................
I figured it out and it's so simple I feel like an idiot, I was just misinterpreting the way the instructions were worded til i realized there was a second way to interpret it.
with HDAdvance, it tells you to insert the game disk and press ok...at that point I was ejecting the HDA disk and trying to figure out how to get it past the disk check using the swap disk...don't do that.
when it asks for the game disk, DON'T EJECT...just open the flip top and put in the backup disk BEFORE you click ok.
I don't understand WHY it works as it still checks to see if the disk is a valid PS2 disk, but apparently by not ejecting it and swapping it by hand, it passes the check and works just fine.
I knew it was something insanely simple, I was just over-thinking it.
