Burning God of War on two separate DVD+R Disks?

I've heard that you can backup God of War on 2 seperate DVD Disks (Single Layer). Is this possible?

The reason I'm asking this is because my burnt copy of GOW (Backed up on a Verbatim DVD+R DL Disk) dosn't work halfway through the game.

I'm just outside Pandora's Temple where the long bridge is. When I cross the bridge, it says 'loading' and it stops, even though the 'loading' sign is still moving.

And when I try to save at that save point, it freezes with the red GOW symbol in the background, slightly moving.

If anyone could recommend to me something to do with this problem, or tell me how to burn other PS2 dual layer games, it would be great.

read the official god of war thread.. it tells you how to backup the game to a single DVD-R.. you lose the bonus features, but the game works brilliantly.
