I have made a few MP3 CD's for the player in my car.

I usually put a number of songs in a folder, make about 6 folders and then make the CD (MP3)

My Question. My player is capable of displaying the folder name, the album title, the artist name, and the name of the song.

It ONLY displays the folder name

It then says "unknown artist", "unknown album" and "unknown title"

What an I doing wrong when I initially create the CD prior to burning it.

Is the info available in the ID-Tag?

What is the ID Tag? I have beed burning MP3 CD's using Record Now 7.3 and Windows Media Player, and I am wondering if I am using the right programs for what I am doing?

Learn about ID tags:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID_tag

I know that Windows Media player can manipulate ID tags using its advaced tag editing feature (Right click on the file in the playlist and select "Advaced Tag Ediditor").

I have found the ID Tag Editor and on some songs the information was not available. I need to double check on those songs that it was available and see if the radio displays correctly on those song. I will get back with you later on that.

I have had a chance to check everything. Even on songs with the information available in the ID Tag, only the folder name is displayed.

I made one mistake. I can only Make MP3's with RECORD NOW. I have only created Normal Audio CDs with Windows Media Player. I don't know if Media Player can make an MP3 CD.

If you think software is the problem can you recomend something that I can try to see if I can make it work right

Any help is always appreciated Thanks

I have a lot af school work right now but I will give it a try later.

The main reason I use MP3 is I only have to keep 3 or 4 MP3 CD's in the truck. A lot less clutter. Atleast it is displaying the folder name, I can find the perticular album I want quickly. It's just annoying glancing at the display and seeing "unknown album", Unknown Artist" and "Unknown Song".

I am sure that the problem is in how I am creating the files prior to burning. (or I need to use different software)

With a little help I can figyre it out

try the trial version of Nero 6 . it has a few mp3 tools . i have used , make a mp3 disc option before and works pretty good . when converting files to mp3 format there is the option to add album info and song title info . you may need the lame power pack from Nero to do mp3 encoding .

if not interested in Nero there may be some thing here to help you with your problem . i noticed there are tag editors on the list .

O.K. The problem is definatly software related. If I use Windows Media Player to make the MP3 Cd what I end up with is an MP3 cd with a lot of songs but no seperate folders. So if I want to listen to the last Album, I will have to scroll through 120 songs or more before I get there. But each artist and song and album is listed.

Now if only I can only seperate the albums into seperate folders for much faster access.

Hey dlc2000, your idea was on the money. The problem was software.

I just installed Nero 6.6 on my son's computer and made another MP3 CD and everything displays exactly like it supposed to.

Thanks
