This was a a**hole move on my part. I ordered a swap magic kit and the thing took so long to get here that I forgot about it. I then traded in my old PS2 for the slim version (only paid $23.00 by the way...sweet!). Just this week I get the swap magic kit and now I need to know if it will work with the new PS2. Am I SOL or still in good shape?

The Swap Magic disks themselves will work, but you cant use the slide tool that comes with it. You can either buy yourself a Flip Top for the Slim, or there's a release tool. If you can find the slide tool for the skinny alone, buy that. Or just look on ebay for a flip top cover for like $20 and go that route.

yes a Magic Switch or Slimtool or Ghost Switch
all serve the same function. Stopping the PSTwo
from resetting when you open the lid to swap
the Swap Magic disc for your back up.
Also as mentioned you can buy an aftermarket
flip top which will also do that.
But i really would not suggest leaving the lid
open while you swap and play them. I am sure
that was just for demonstration purposes.

I got mine to work with my slimline with out that tool I opened up my ps2 with out breaking the warranty seal got a folded small piece of paper put it on the hidded cover switch and closed my ps2. Then I got a real small piece of paper and stuffed it into the right bottom switch and thats it. Put it the disk close the top it loads open the top load game click load play.
