Good idea for an alternative I think, then you could take the loser magnetic tape and transfer it to an optical disc for a real reproduction eh?

Is there an echo?

But you'll lose some quality in the recording and the playback/recapture.

Get the Nimo Codec Pack. Install the G400 Codec. Play the movie. While it is playing the G400 will show up on your taskbar. Open its settings panel and tell it to invert output. Exit. Now go and burn it with Nero and it will be correct. No problem, no hassle, no Tempgenc, no no no. Do Not forget to run a video again and change the G400 setting back to normal after you are done. This is why I put all my movies on CD-RW disk, eh. It works great and is EASY.

Isepiq,

Fine job and thanks for a real answer. Earlier someone said to remove the NIMO Codec Pack. I guess the G400 Codec that you refer to is the right track. Thanks for your explanation.

Got it sorted, install the XVid Codec from here http://www.divx-digest.com/software/xvid.html and there is a little program called AviC (FourCC Changer). Open the Xvid .avi file in this and change the 2 settings to Divx and burn in Nero, all the right way round, happy shopper!!!!

Thank you and goodnight.

This happened to me once, It was from the elecard mpg2 codec I installed. I un-installed it then just use my windvd player to play all vcd/svcd/dvd's now and have never had a nero encoded file upside down since.

I'm having a problem with TMPGenc. I'downloaded the trail version and succesfully converted various avi's to vcd. Now I've downloaded a couple of movies but TMPGenc does not recognise the audio threat. At first my mediaplayer would not play music on the movie either yet after downloading a update from nimo it did play sound. Is there an update available somewhere for TMPGenc that corrects this problem. (Nero produces an upside down image WITH sound)

Alrighty, if I may just join the club of people with upside down VCDs. Mine happens to be the XviD code of Die Another Day, and like everyone else here, Nero does a very nice job, except for the little business of upside down video. Oh yes, and no audio (though the AC3 codec for the original AVI is working properly during computer playback.) Now I've been using TMPGEnc as long as I've been using Nero, but it doesn't recognize the audio track for this AVI for some reson, so it's usless for this one. Any ideas now?

TMPGEnc should be able to read Xvids as well, you should have the reader already, if not, visit the homepage. You will need to adjust the priority settings in Environmental settings to get it to read the Xvid, then you should be able to convert the file into a VCD.

Paul.

PS : You must be missing the audio codec, you can download a piece of software called Gspot, which will tell you what you need and hopefully where to get it. Links for Pegasys (TMGGEnc) and GSPOT download are on this website.

Great thread, Im having problems with the nero conversion process as well. I have used tmpg and find that the file size is too large and when trimming down the size the quality is not so good.

I am going to try FFD show and hope there are no issues with Ace-mega codec pack? Was the writer trying to convey thats all you need + his instructions to have nero convert to SVCD?

If that doesnt work then I'll try the G400 codec and install it in my Ace mega directory?

Im theorizing that if you use a 32bit media-player and tell it to invert selection this will also work??

Nevertheless, Im going to get to the bottom of this.........Oh and I also have a fully licensed version of nero and the plug-in. So I have also fired off an email to Ahead explaining the situation.

I also conveyed to them that they should have a Nero "pro" version without all the crud. Im absolutely positive that the wizard is causing this!!!

Amazing what you can find in a string-search on Google. Thats what lead me here, and once again gr8 thread gang..

G400 worked for me, a nifty little utility just right click it where it says Xvid click that then just check "flip"

I think TMPG works much better I notice a focus retraction issue? I have never had it happen with TMPG, the brightness should also be increased a little when using nero on the fly.............

So if your going to use nero to encode use the g400 which you can dwnld seperately DONT install the nimo codec pack I recommend ACE instead!(G400 can be dwnlded and installed seperately)

For you quality cntrl freaks out there use tmpg as it does a much finer job if you want to keep it too 2 discs use a bitrate calculator and burn in conjunction with a cd burner like Yamaha, Liteon, or Plextor btw I hear Cendyne Lightning is really a Liteon so you can pick up a dirt cheap burner that supports DAO overburn for cheap cake @ 20 dollars US after rebate.

So I think that solves the nero conversion problem,,,,,,,,,use it if your lazy!!@#$% if you want quality use TMPG or another similiar progie....

Yes, ANY proggy like G400 that lets you invert or flip the video will work. Just remember to put it back when done! Also, found a much BETTER codec pack: www.k-lite.tk
Click on downloads and look for the FULL codec pack. You can check and unchech what you want, and just do a reinstall any time you want to change which codecs you have. Better than Nimo.
Also, flipping a movie and burning with Nero vcd or svcd has never affected the quality for me??? Gotta be your 'puter??? Maybe???
I have a Sounblaster 5.1, ATI 128 DDR video, P4-1.5, & 1 Gig of Ram???
TempG is way too much work for me, hahhahaha.
IMHO

I figgured out a FIX for the problem, rather than a way around.

The g400 codec is the problem here.. if you dont have a g400 vid card.. the codec will screw everything up for nero.

go to the add remove programs and search for NEMO filters of g400 codecs.. remove them. reboot the computer..

boot up nero.. start to set up your vcd.. ie menu all that crap.. then click on NEW, so that you can drag and drop the vid file you want to use..

you may get an error saying that the video format is unsupported.. heres how to fix that... make sure you have one of the recent Windows MP, open the vid filew in that, it will DL the codecs you need for you. make sure the movie plays there, and reboot again.

now set up the vcd..( you need to make a menu for this to work) after you drag the file over, it should accept it. NOW double click on the file you dragged over.. not the actual file, but the name of it, listed to the left of the NERO screen. it will bring up a window with 2 tabs.. click the menu tab.. it will show a video window with your movie in it.. toggle the bar at the bottom until you can see a clear picture.. and make sure the picture is right side up.. you should get a perfect burn now.

Just to test my theory.. before you uninstal any codecs or anything.. go throgh the creation steps above.. when you get to the "menu tab" it will show your video upside down and reversed.. showing that nero isnt encoding the video wrong, its using the g400 codec and seeing the file wrong, and coding just like it reads it.

hope this helps everyone.

ok i had the problem of films flipping when using nero but it only seemd to happen with xvids.
i have now solved this if you download a program called avicc you can change the 4cc header code to that of a divx and it will play fine and convert using nero without flipping.
this works because xvid is actually a hacked version of the divx codec.
hope this helps everyone who has been having problems.

download virtual dub mp3 freeze
then load film into it and select file save wav
then when you use tmpeng to convert your film use the wav file as a external source for the sound and it should be ok

CHECK THIS OUT===SOLUTION

Here is the real deal people like many i have/had the problem of Nero turning my vcd and svcd upside down when I burned with it. Well quite contray to the beliefs of many about Nero and its worth, I love the program and it is very simple and works great it does the encoding for you and creates quality results so if your like me and want to use Nero and create your svcd or vcd from a avi or xvd and not have to mess around encoding it with tmpeg or some other bull crap program that will make the dang thing 3gigs to big here is your solution:

1. I am assuming if you have a xvcd or avi file that you have kazaa, and thats were you downloaded it from, go to kazaa and serch for "ACE Mega CoDecS Pack"

2. download it and set it up durring installation it will ask if you want to run aggresive unistall of all other codecs, say YES. This will be the last codec you will ever need!!!!!!

3. after a succsessfull install you will have to reboot, do it .

4.then go to nero and select svcd or vcd and drag and drop you file then on the right hand of the nero menu you will see a play button press it and your movie should be playing right side up and not inverted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. BURN IT and ENJOY

Your welcome everyone
