Same problem as most above - when Nero burns an Xvid encoded movie to SVCD it plays upside down. Tried everything in this thread up to installing klcodec203f with no luck then, in desparation, UNinstalled AceMegaPack and hey presto Nero works spot on! It looks like the klcodec203f codecs did the trick. Thanks everyone.

OK, here's my question, How much time do we spend trying to turn .AVI to .mpg format, Is there not a dvd player that attaches to our TV's that will play .AVI formatted movies. If not their needs to be. Does anybody know of one.

Certain new (and cheap) DVD players are being released which will play DivX movies. Rather like it took a while for the CD player manufacturers a while to realise that they would sell more if they supported CD-RW etc :-)

Paul.

I'm back...
...can't you smell the fear?

what is the point of using all these codecs to stop Nero inverting pictures if the output file is still 3 discs or larger? i am not a dummy but i cannot change the bitrate for vcds in tmpege, when u go to settings it just cannot be altered.i have tried splitting with dv tool but the 2nd split never plays although the first does. baffled plz help.

Same problem here, with Nero, Boilsoft converter, and tmpge thingo as well. easy fix, download mpg files, NOT bloody .AVI. Too much hassle with all these codecs etc.

Stop all the yapping
just use avichop to chop avi's in half
then use Nero to encode and burn them (2 cds)
easy as posting a message
thanx

Hi Gang:

* I recently got my upside-down picture trying to encode a

movie recently and found a simple solution.

Use a program called Virtual Movie Dubber which is Freeware,

I turn the picture back rightside-up from the original VCD

upside-down movie and save it in a format that Nero really

likes.

Bringing up VMD, click on [V]ideo [F]ilters [A]dd
[F]lip Vertically.

I find that Nero really does like MP4 format and doesn't give

problems with it so once you have that filter in place, click

on [OK] and
then it's [F]ile [O]pen
and go to drive E: if that's where you have your VCD in the

drive, go to click on the directory:

[MPEGAV]
AVSEQ01.DAT

Read in that file.
You'll have a little filter program engage and take a-while

to convert it to a readable format.

Once that's done, let's set it to save as an MP4 ! Click on
[V]ideo [C]ompression
and select
Microsoft MPEG-4 Video codec V2
Click on
[Configure]
Leave Keyframe to [8]
Leave Crispness to [75]
Change the Data Rate to:
6000, maximum. You'll have a fat .AVI file ultimately that's

far bigger than will fit on a regular CD but we're not

worried about that since it's the TIME-SIZE we are interested

in and we know it already fits on a VCD.

We're nearly there ! :)
We're finally ready to save off this new .AVI so click on
[F]ile Save [a]s AVI and enter in a new temporary name you

want Nero to work with directly.

After several minutes you're done !
Bring back up Nero EXPRESS or whatever you are using and now

select the newly created MPEG-4V2 AVI you just made to burn

your new VCD with.

It will appear right-side up in final processing with no loss

to the movie.

Hope This Helps !

Dear All!

Nero is a Cd burner software, and a good one. Features such as creating SVCD are included for bonus, and not the main aim of Nero. So it is not for encoding SVCD!! When I started my first SVCD a long time ago, I started with Nero. For the first time the movie was upside-down. So changed to a video encoding software. DVD2SVCD is the best I have found. I have encoded a few hundred of SVCDs with it and none of them are uside-down. So U should download it. It uses very complicated programs, such as tmpegenc, and sets all the parameters automatically.
U just have to add the AVI file and maybe a subtitle file(s) click GO and U will have CD image files as result, that can be burned to CD from the file menu of Nero.
