What method did you use to install it onto the hdd and have you tried it with mode 1\2 and without any mode?

I just popped the DVD HD Advance in then swapped it out with my copy of haunting grounds and yes i tried other modes too.

Very weird it works fine for me i had no probs what so ever after setting it to mode 3, when installing did you get any errors?
