Hello!
Here's the thing: I want to put two songs together (kinda mix them - when a couple seconds of one's end is heard during the other one's beginnig), so I figured maybe I could record them with Nero wave editor. But when I stop recording and try to listen to it, it doesn't play a sound. So what could be the problem? Maybe i'm missing some file or smth?

it's much easier to use Nero Burning Rom or Nero Express. They both give you the option to 'cross fade eith previous track'.

yes but I don't think he wants to burn to a CD, he wants to create a digital file. I'm not sure about Nero wave editor, but I have heard very good things about free audio editors called Audacity and Krystal, so give them a try.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

I'm a she:)
Anyway, yes - I want to create an mp3, not to burn a CD. I also tried Gold wave, but the same thing happened - no sound, so I'm lost. But I'll try those programs u've suggested, if I find them.

sorry ma'am :)

so how are you recording your sound? are you importing files, or actually recording through the line-in of your sound card? go to the audio settings in the control panel and make sure that the line in is enabled. are you seeing the waveform when it is recording?

apology accepted:)

Well I went to recording settings and selected line-in and still no effect. By the way what is line-in?
Ok it's quite embarrasing, but basically what I do is play winamp and then try to record.(beginning to understand there's a lot more I must do...) Exactly - i DON'T see that waveform, from the very first time I've been thinking that normally I should see it.

okay, I'm starting to see the picture now. the line-in I was referring to is the audio input on your soundcard (if you were recording from another source into your computer). so instead of trying to record the audio through winamp, you should be able to import the audio files directly. I've never used the Nero wav editor, but somewhere on the menu there should be an option to import audio. so find your two songs, then you should be able to connect them together and do a crossfade. If you're not having any luck with Nero, try Audacity, from what I hear its a very good free audio editor.

Hi Desperate,

The Nero WAV Editor is currently for creating one audio file, and though you can launch Nero WAV Editor and go to File->Open and select an audio file, and then click on the very end of the WAV form and then go to Edit->Insert File and now you have essentially merged two files into one. But you will not find an option for crossfade as they are now seen as one WAV file within Nero WAV Editor.

You need to use the Nero SoundTrax program for what you want to do.

Simply launch the Nero SoundTrax program, go to Insert->Audio File and select any audio file to insert. Then repeat that step to insert a second audio file. Now you should see two wav forms next to each other, and they will have different colors so you can tell them apart. Now just click on any audio file with the mouse, and hold it down and simply drag the audio file towards the other one. You will see what looks like an X form between the two. This is the area that represents the section containing the CrossFade.

While in the SoundTrax program, if you find you wish to use any of the features that are in the Nero WAV editor on any of the WAV files you added into SoundTrax, simply double click on any of the two files and it will launch the WAV editor automaticaly. Where you can make what changes you want, then save, and then close the WAV Editor. And now the changes will apply to the audio file you have in the SoundTrax program.

Hopefully that was not too confusing. :-)

Regrads,

Thank you djscoop,I've tried Audacity and FINALLY it worked... Yet their help section is useless , so I came close to hitting my head on the keyboard, but eventually I've figured it out:)
Craig - thank you too, this instruction seems very accurate;)too bad SoundTrax keeps showing errors, in the very beginning when I try to insert audio file. But nevermind now.
