are original PS2 games DVD-5's(single layer) or DVD-9's(double layer)?

Could be either cd,DVD-5 or DVD-9... depends on the game.

Older PS2 games are CD's, but not many. Most are DVD-5's and a small minority are DVD-9's. (Off the top of my head I can remember Gran Turismo, Mercinairies and God of War)

Ok, well some new ps2 games are also released on cd, such as lego star wars. It's true that most games are going to be DVD-5, but some newer games are also going to be DVD-9, such as the ones jin666 mentioned and also champions of norath... mostly it depends on the size of the game.

The difference is going to be in the size. A DVD-5 will be anything under 4.7 gigs (actually a little smaller than that, they just rate them at 4.7). Anything over 4.7 gigs will have to be a DVD-9, also know as a dual-layer. I hope that clears it up a little.

U look near the very bottom, on the back. You wil either see DVD Rom, or a Compact Disk!

Mercenaries is not a DVD9 game. If you have the game why not insert the game and fire up DVD Decrypter/Nero. Those programs will tell you if the game is single layer (DVD5) or dual layer (DVD9).
