Accessing a computer through same wireless router...can it be done??

Hey, at my house we have a DI-524 wireless g router, with computers hooked up to it. One is hardwired and the other 2 wireless. I was wondering if it is possible to access the computers from eachother by going through the router. Thanks.

windows xp on all of them. The one that is wired to the router is windows xp home, and the wireless are both xp pro SP2.

i don't use xp on my computer & my last xp computer which belonged to a customer went back tuesday morning. check in network configuration or something like that i think in control panel.

All I could find about a network is setting up a network. That is like what I want, but that cant be wireless. It has to be to share an internet connection.
I have tried remote assistance, but the only one I can ever figure out how to do is the one in windows messanger. And in order to be able to get into the other computer, you need permission.
is there anything else that could use, that you dont need to go on the other computer and get permission to use? I dont want to have to always go back to the other computer to give it permission to access it. Any other suggestions/guides? All help is very appreciated.

Hey, ok. I got the network set up, but the thing is, is that the computer that I started the network on, can access the other computers. But then the other computers dont have permission to access it. Is there any way to give rights to the other computers also? Thanks

I had the same problem and just figured it out tonight. What I had to do was enable the user accounts by right clicking on My Computer icon then Manage> Local Users and Groups> Users. From there the Guest account was disabled so I enabled it and set permissions. Problem solved. It sounds like I have the same set up as you ie 1 wireless laptop (XP Home), 1 wireless desktop (XP Pro SP2) and 1 hardwired desktop (XP Pro SP2). Good luck!

Another tip...for the wireless networking I went into the control panel and used the "Wireless Network Setup" wizard. I utilized the flash key method and it worked like a charm.

ok, I made a bit of progress. I can now go on my other computer, and see all the computers that are in the network (couldnt before) and I can still access the other computer from the host computer. When I try to access the host computer, it says that I might not have rights to access it. I tried disabling all firewalls and antiviruses, but still dont have permission. On the host computer, there is only one account and it has admin rights? What else could I try to get rights to the computer? Thanks a lot guys.

i also noticed that both computers have the same ip adress... would this be the problem?

When you click on manage it should open up a file tree where you will find "local Users and Groups". After clicking that it will show a folder for Users to the right.

Now I'm at a loss (scratches head)...I'm looking at exactly the same thing with the exception of between Shared Folders and Performance logs under System Tools I have Local Users and Groups.

ok, just found out something. The hardwired computer, the one that i cant access from the other computer, is not xp pro. It is XP Home. That cant be right that you have to have windows xp professional in order to do this. Is that right?
