From my experience XP Home is a bitch. We did it with XP Home on a laptop via the wireless network setup and a jump drive but even then it took alot of trial and error. Pro makes it much easier.

ok, well. In the morning I will make a partition and install xp pro. In the meantime, I need to free up some hard drive space. Do you know any good disk cleanup programs? I was going to do the windows one, but I have heard that screws up computers a lot.

thanks. I used a bit of each... did some manual work, windows disk cleanup, and tried that ccleaner. The cccleaner works pretty well, and the best part is, is that its freeware! Ill let you know if windows xp pro fixes the problem. Thanks again for all of your help guys!

i have the same setup you do.. one hardwired desktop... one wireless desktop.. a wireless laptop.. plus i have vonage and my ps2 hooked up... but i use a program called "Beyond Remote" ==> http://www.dataapples.com it's kinda neat... i leave a server run all the time .. enable it thru my norton firewall.. forward ports from my router to it.. install the client side on a USB keychain and i have remote access to my computer wherever i go.. it's kinda fun and that program works good too!... even works on muh rents' dialup!...

File transfer: ports 20-21
Windows File Sharing (NETBIOS): ports 137-139
Microsoft Directory Server (MSFT DS): port 445

Thanks for all of your help guys! It was very much appreciated. Especially the quick responses! Thanks again.

Hey guys, just came across an extra router and got it all hooked up. I now have 2 computers hooked up to one router and the other 2 to the other router. I found out that the network doesnt work anymore. This is because they have different ip adress's. The 2 routers I have are the primary router (D-Link DI-524 wireless G) and then the second router (hooked into the dlink) is a Linksys BEFW11S4. Is there anyway to get my network back up and running while keeping the 2 routers hooked up? Thanks
