just trying to download my first torrents only getting download rate of max 10kbs,mates keep telling me they can get 100kbs+. im using azureus on a 1meg cable connection, can anybody help me. have being looking answers all day,nothing seems to work.

Follow this link...http://www.portforward.com/cports.htm
Find the program you're using and see what ports it requires. Open those ports on your PC connection that receives you internet as well as forwarding those ports to your router. You should notice a difference.
