HI,

I just recently downloaded FFX-2 and got the following files:

FINAL_FANTASY_X_2.ISO
FINAL_FANTASY_X_2.MDS

The .ISO file is far more bigger than the .mds file. Did someone burn this game yet? Could someone please tell me which file exactly (the .iso or the .mds) I need to burn?
So far all the downloaded ps2 games which I had only had a .iso file which i burned. HOwever this game has 2 files, I don't understand why. Anyway, hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance!

MDF file is similar to a CUE file that comes with BIN images. Basically it just points to the ISO and includes some additional info. If you have a MDF file with your ISO, then open the MDF with your burning program and it will automatically use the ISO.

Try google first next time. You can find answers much faster that way. A search of "mdf file" turns up:

It is not a .MDF file, it is a .MDS file.

Anyway I looked up the definition of of .MDS file and it says:

A MDS file is a small meta file that contains description information about the associated ISO. It is not an ISO file nor can a MDS file be converted into a ISO. You must have the ISO; however, you can usually have an ISO without a MDS. So, no need to convert, just play the ISO.

If I understand correctly this indicates that I only need to burn the ISO file and just ignore the .MDS file right?

Oops yeah I was half asleep, meant MDS. You can burn the ISO directly, or use the MDS. Probably better to use the MDS, since its using the ISO anyways, plus extra information your burning software might be able to use.
