okay....this is what i'm trying to do. i am attempting to edit my Memento DVD so that i can watch the movie in chronological order. for those of you who havn't seen the movie, it goes in reverse but there are short scenes of black and white which go forward. therefore the problem is that i can't just reverse the chapters because the black and white sequences are part of the chapters. therefore i need to cut/split the VOB's into their respective scenes and then re authore the dvd i guess. i have a few programs for splitting VOB's and none of them seem to split the VOB's correctly. i also have no idea how to use ifoedit (if that's even what i need to use) to make the VOB's play in the order i would like. i have already used DVD Shrink to rip the movie and re-encode it so that it will fit on a DVD 5 disc. i am stuck now. please help.

now that i think about it, is there a way to alter/create the chapters in such a way that use the existing VOB files and just use LBA or other placement identifier to tell it what sections to play and in what order? is that easiar?

You could use an mpeg editor like VideoRedo Plus. You can open, edit and save VOB files. It comes with a 30 day free trial.

You can use this guide to rebuild a set of DVD files from any of your edited VOB files:

If you are looking to insert chapters you can use Nero vision express. Add each one seperately and the window where your vobs are shown prior to burning will let you switch them to the order you want. It will allow you to put the files in the order you want and insert chapter points. Check the guides section for using Nero vision express. Also report back and let us know the results.

to burn or not to burn that is the question

Is there a beasty program for editing the GAMMA in .VOB files then saving them back to their original filename intact?

What about audio editing software to remove bacground noise from the main movie?

@jiggly45,

hi glad we could be of help to you and happy burning.

@fantazar,

Hi welcome to AD. I have not had the situation of having to fix/ edit the color (gamma) in a VOB file. From being arround the afterdawn forums I would suggest trying VirtualDub as I read somewhere that software does the trick. Check the guides section on how to use VirtualDub and download the free (keyword freeware) version as the latest is shareware. I will do a google search and see if there is a program that allows you to fix the color frame by frame and fix the sound as well. Please after trying to use VirtualDub w/ the guide report back and let us know if you have success with it.

re, Gamma editing...Might be worth pointing out that a .VOB file is merely an mpeg, and as such can be edited for gamma, etc in any good quality video editing suite..eg, if your editing suite doesn't import .vob's just temporarily rename it to .mpg, and it should import with no problem. Just a suggestion.:)
