Well after i got Azureus my downloads were going slow and i have the yellow faces. So i opened the ports 6881 on my router. I experienced a big increase in speed. My total d/l was going 70KB and uploading 30KB. I would be able to browse the internet with firefox fine too, it was just a little slower.

But now after a couple days of really good d/l speeds, the speeds have dropped back down to 20KB or so, but upload speeds seem fine, it goes to whatever max i set it at. Whenever I have Azureus open now, the internet loads pages really slow or doesn't even load them, giving me the "Cannot connect to ....." message. Even when i pause Azureus and the d/l, u/l speeds are at 0KB, web pages still load slow.

It is like Azurues is taking up all the bandwidth for some reason, even when it's not d/l or u/l. When i close Azureus the internet works fine again. Anyone know what is wrong?

Never liked this program as it eats your system resources for breakfast. On my 3ghz P4 i checked the task manager ctrl-alt-delete and it was using a massive 70%-90% of my CPU resources and loads of ram. I would first suggest changing to another BT torrent program and failing that and sticking with this i would restart the computer one a day to free up resources

sounds as if its bottlenecking (uploading too much thats its affecting download), get Netlimiter and limit you javaw.exe to 75% of your maximum upload speed. see if that helps.
