Listen to creaky. Blockbuster does not put protection on discs. Don't believe anything else you hear. Just stop and think a minute about this. Your DVD player uses a laser to read the disc. Your dvd rom uses a laser to read a disc. Do you honestly believe that your DVD reader alters the disc in any way, so Blockbuster can tell if you are copying it??? I personally believe that the stain was ranch dressing, from eating vegies and dip while loading the player.

haha that would be impossible, all ur dvd drive is doing to get the files to ur comp is reading it so its no difference from puting it in ur dvd player. this is almost as funny as the self-destructing ps3 or the chip that u have to get around by putting it in ur comp then taking it out and spining it on ur finger the other way at 10,000 rpms.

I don't know about any special plastics or anything, but i do know that netflix is starting to get DVD's with a new type of encryption... you can tell that they have it because the disc is grey and has the netflix logo on the disc... DVDecrypter get's through it pretty easy tho LOL

That grey disc, is just a laser burned label. No new encryption, just Netflix making their own copies.

That smudge you are talking about is on just about every disc. What is it? I don't know, but it is not any type of copy protection. Also, I know it is not ranch dressing as it is not on the plastic, but on the data part of the disc.

I do not know how pressed dvds work, but maybe it is dye that has changed color from the heat of the pressing or something. Or it could be that you can actually see the different layers on a DVD9 disc. Who knows.

Blockbuster hired the Roswell Aliens to put Adavanced Alien Technology on their DVDs to keep up with whether they were copied or just watched. The Roswell Aliens get a Kickback for every Rental for their contribution. Really Guys, does anyone really think the Rental Stores like Blockbuster CARE what you do after you PAY them? As long as they get it back in good condition so they can Re-Rent it and make BIG Money, why in the world would they care? Their DVDs probably pay for themselves after 3-4 rentals. That's my opinion for what it's worth.
