My PC burner heats up as the rest of my PC (case temp over 45 Celsius, CPU around 56 C) in the summer. My DVD burns are like hot pancakes and I need an oven mitt to take them out the DVD burner so I don't burn my fingers. ;) But worse, the recent PI/PO tests I ran on my burns came back horribly. PI errors hitting 400 towards the end of the disc! I know you're probably going to say it's because I'm using Ridata DVDs, but on cooler days, these discs give me errors 1/10th of what I got recently. I'm sure the heat has alot to do with the bad burns. BTW, 400 is still acceptable for errors (I think 700-800 is the max limit). They do not skip, but I'm not used to anything over 100. So I'd be very careful of burns if your PC is red hot from the weather like mine.

Open the case up and put a house fan on it. Not too close ie electromagnetic field. Or buy an air conditioner. or wait till winter to backup.

Adding more case fans should do the trick but remember once you start adding fans you may have to up your power supply watts. Personally I run 550W power supply with 4 case fans & 90 mm fan on CPU overclocked. Case usually runs around 31 C in summer and 26C winter. Also Blow the dust out of the case twice a year.

Good Luck

Actually, I did prop a small desk fan aimed right at the vent on the side on my PC. I'm sure it helps but it seems to be recirculating hot air. The A/C is in another room in the house, and it doesn't seem to get into this room. I already have 2 small PC fans, but they are so small, I doubt they would do much in this heat. I thought I should bring up the heat issue because I realized in past years, the only bad burns I ever made were in the hottest days of summer.

Are you sure it's a PC problem, and not the PC owner drinking too much beer on a hot day ? ha ha ha ha ha !

I have a small air conditioning unit in my little computer room / basement section because it get's so hot in here, I feel like I'm the pancake getting cooked !

Happy burning, enjoy the nice weather while it lasts :)
