Can anyone suggest some software to edit mp3's.

I'm looking to select snippets to use as true tones for a mobile phone.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

Thanks for that.

Got Audacity now but, unless I'm mistaken, the file type is wromg after the editing. I still need to be able to produce mp3's at the end not .aud files which is what I'm getting from using Audacity.

Can someone point me in the right direction.

you should be able to export to different file types, check the help for exporting file types. export to WAV, then use dBPowerAMP to convert to mp3

I suggest another software "mobile music Polyphonic" which I have ever used. but it's a shareware, not free.

why use that, when dBPOwerAMP, which is one of the best all-around converters, is FREE?

btw aikenlin, I see that the link in your sig is a site that advertises non-freeware software. Unless you have gone through the proper channels here at aD to advertise that site, I recommend you remove it before a mod sees it.
