Hi,
I have a thread for this problem in the Newbie forum...in case more people will see my problem, i'll post it here as well.
I'm having trouble backing up the Navigation DVD that came with my Chevy Tahoe. It is greater than 4.3 so we assume that it's a DL. I used DVD Decryter to come up with an iso and an mds file. So far, i've tried to burn the iso with decrytper and the DVD drive in the car does not read it. Now, it may be important to consider that this is the dashboard drive and it will not play a DVD movie whether it's burned or stamped. So, the fact that I am burning it as a video when it probably is not a video may be my problem. I'm too new at this to know where to go next.If I need to burn this as a data disc....how do i do this using DVD Decryter or Nero?
Thanks much
I don't think you need to burn a data disc, and I don't see how you burned it like that. If the drive can't read DVD's, there's no need to burn it to a DVD. If it can read the original, this means it CAN read DVD's. If you extracted it to an iso, simply open up Nero Burning ROM and hit Recorder->Burn Image. Then select the image. For a better odds of it working, make sure No Multisession is selected.

Sorry about the double posting. That won't happen again.
-the drive in question reads the original DVD-ROM
-one thing that i noticed just now for the first time.....I went to see the "properties" of the original disc. The dialogue noted that the disc had been marked "read-only" by UDF writing software. I'm hoping that this means that it is a data disc and that I need to use the UDF option in Nero.
So, now I guess I need to know the way to use DVD Decrypter to create a backup of a UDF disc. Can anyone help with the settings? There doesn't seem to be a guide on the site for this type of backup.
Whether it's a DVD-5 or a DVD-9,some burners have the ability to book-type the plus format media to dvd-rom,making them more compatable.Specially when you have players that have trouble with the plus or the dash media.
I don't know if I can help you much.Maybe your burner has the booktyping ability?
Hi,
Yes it will booktype, and I used the mfg. utility as suggested elsewhere in the forum but apparently only on DVD+R.....
The "write" command was not available for the DL disc. But thank you, that made sense to me too.
