If you uninstall it, and re-install, it MIGHT tell you that your trial period is up. I've had that happen before with trial versions of other software.
Good luck!

found a cure (tested 4 dvds last night)

all i do is stop it loading on startup. then insert disks, then run DVD43 - worked 4 times. after ripping a disk you then close DVD43 and insert the next disks and then run it again.

it seems to lock when you insert the disk. if the disk is already in it works fine... odd huh??

@alkohol

At least there are two DVD43 fans out here.
By the way, I am puzzled, do you know who makes DVD43? All I ever see are download sites. Maybe the originator wants to remain anonymous?

The $$ for AnyDVD was the best I've ever spent online, well, along with ordering my Taiyo Yudens! Runs trouble free in the background, simple as can be. Can't recommend it enough!

@Laboy,

I think there may be more, but some just don't want to admit it (that's ok, it's alright). Honestly, if people know how to work around the magic using DVD43 like you and I, then I'm pretty sure there will be even more fans out there. Like I've said earlier, I guess DVD43 is in love with my system.

Seriously, I have no idea who made/created DVD43. However, I strongly deem that it's "not" from the US or UK. It's a possible that the creator is from China or somewhere in Asia.

So it's your opinion, the people that have trouble with DVD43, aren't as smart as the 2 of you?

I "never" said that. However, that's your own opinion and I respect that. No offense, but I reckon I have "not" offend anyone regarding DVD43 and its issue. With that being said, please feel free to "educate" me if I have done something wrong alright because I'm here to learn as well. Cheers now. :) :)

 ... Apparently I got really dumb during my vacation ... Before I left, I had DVD43 on my computer and it worked just fine. Upon arriving home, to my shock and dismay, I found that my daughter had somehow uninstalles the proggy. Now, even after searching and deleting all traces of the proggy, I can no longer get the damn thing to install on my computer. I get the message "This version is not compatable with Win 9x" Well I'm running Win XP Home so I'm at a loss as to why this is happening to this suddenly dumb old guy ... Any help out there in cyberspace?

One of the problems with DVD43 is it took them 6/8 months to update to the point where AnyDVD already was. AnyDVD updated at times before the new encryptions were actually out. If you don't mind waiting that long for an update use DVD43. My money is on AnyDVD.

Hi u can clear ur registry by goin to the start menu and clickin on run...

When u did that type in REGEDIT and press enter

u should get this new window poppin up... Check out the pic to which tabb u should click on and u should scroll down the list till u find DVD 43 and remove it from the list...

look at the pic and it should b the second or third folder and scroll down till u find the software folder and scroll down that till u find DVD43 and remove it...

But try to unisinstall that first by add remove programs....

I hope that helped....

 ... Thanks, I learn something everyday about this silly CPU ...

  .. Okay, there were no traces of DVD43 in my registry, DVD43 was not in my control panel so I couldn't 'add/remone' it and I did a search and nothing that contains "DVD43" exists on my CPU. I tried once again to install DVD43 and once again I got the message "This version is not compatable with Win 9x" At this point, I yelled "I'm not running goldarn (not exactly) Win 9x, I'm running f'in XP!" My wife came running into the office, laughing ... I'm about ready to just buy AvyDvd and say the hell with DVD43 .. such a shame because I had such great success with it ...

@catfreak:

DVD43 only works with W2K and WinXP and not Win98 or WinME.
Here's my thinking....when your daughter did the system recovery it must have done something to your system so that DVD43 somehow thinks your system is Win98; even though it is not. This would explain why after so diligently removing any trace of DVD43 in your registry or hard drive you are still having this error message concerning a Win9X system.

I am wondering if the system recovery was totally successful? Have you had problems with other software applications?

 ... This seems to be the only problem that Ive encountered ... In fact, the system recovery seems to have 'cleaned up' certain things on my system ... For example, I used to get an error when I booted up my system (it didn't seem to affect anything) .. I no longer get an error .. Also, my read to harddrive using DVD Decrypter has gone from a maximum of 5X to about 7.5X ...
