I design web pages and Im looking to get a big 20in monitor. I have a laptop and the LCD screen produces differnt color shades than the older CRT monitors.
So if there are any web designers out there who can tell me what they think is the best for getting true colors of your designs.

let me know.

Thanks.

Look for one with low response times like 8ms or 12ms to avoid ghosting, they have some with 4ms response times. Another considerations is dot pitch, this is the distance in millimeters between phosphors of the same color. In other words, the smaller the dot pitch the sharper the image will be. Opt for a dot pitch of 0.26 millimeters or smaller..

Definetly CRT for color reproduction...

And those 4ms LCDs aren't really 4ms at all, it ends up at around 30ms because after about 5ms it is *close* to the right color, but it overshoots the voltage so it's not exactly right until about 30ms later when it calms back down.

My recommendation-

Dell/HP P1130, same thing as Sony G520 but better looking
-21" 19.8" viewable
-2048x1536@80hz 1600x1200@100hz
-0.24mm dot pitch

I got mine for $147 shipped on eBay. Of course if you REALLY want the best of the best you're looking at $500+. (though this is close, #8 on top 10 CRT's of '03)

CRT's have the best quality, but LCD's just look cool. I prefer CRT's cause you also wont get dead pixels. If you got the space and you want superior picture, get yourself a good CRT monitor.
