Hmm by the looks I do need more power. I also just ordered a promise pci card so I can put each hardrive on a seperate channel. I did this because the main is in dma mode and the other is in pio mode. With the new card it should ut everything in dma mode, because by the looks of it the mobo cant handle two drives in dma mode. Maybe that will help also. Guess one ugrade is going to result in three..lol.
edit...is that power unit they got posted on the calc page any good? Also....what decent pci graphics can ya recommend since I dont have agp on board. Something in the 200 price range. Because I honestly dont know the difference between pci and ci express.

pci & pci/e are like apples & oranges. pci cards can't fit into pci/e & vise versa because the slots are totally different. try newgg.com & tigerdirect.com if in the states to see if have pci videocards. if playing games than the card probably won't do you any good as to slow bus speed wise. can try this link to see what it calculates the wattage needed but still add 30% for power surge when 1st starting up computer. http://www.extreme.outervision.com/index.jsp

Okay thanks. If a new video card wont help then...I probaly aint going to do it then. And I doubt I will update the mobo to get onboard agp. I think Im going to get the power pack thats listed on the first calc page you gave me. 450 watts for bout 50.00 bucks seems like a good price.

make certain the motherboard connector of the psu will fit your motherboard as some named brand computers like dell & hp/compaq don't always use standard psu connectors & psu dimensions might be different. standard psu has a 20 pin connector whereas some motherboards have 24 pin connector. dimensions of a standard psu is 14cm(5.5")d x 8.5cm(3.25")h x 15cm(5.875")w.

I have to ask. What hard drive do you have that runs in PIO mode, and if you actually have one, why on earth would you put a slug in your computer?

Im running a brand spanking new seagate 80 gig grandpa....that is only 6 months old. Everytime I hooked it up it defaults to pio mode...so im figuring that my bios cant handle running two hard drives in dma mode. That is why I went for the card. I did post the model number of it. Correct me if im wrong, but that is what im understanding.

There is no reason that your BIOS can't run that newer hard drive at Ultra DMA Mode 5. If it doesn't, there is either something wrong with the motherboard, hard drive, or cable that you have the hard drive connected to the motherboard.
One other possibility may be that the PSU won't handle all that you have connected.

Yes I agree grampa...I think the hardrive is shot even know its 6 months old. Now its making the click of death sound...lol. Im going to send it in for replacement. Plus Im thinking of a new com right now

No I dont....wish I did. If samsungg dont replace it..then I will get a western digital. Heard they were better.

I have actually not heard of a Samsung hard drive. I would stick with Western Digital, Maxtor, or Seagate.

Neith did I..till I open the factory com and seen samsung. I just heard there is a western digtal 160 over at best buy for 50. Here I come...lol
