im thinking about adding more ram, i got a pc3200 about 2 weeks ago or so, i dont know what brand it is, but on the sticker on the ram is has a big S on it, and it also sais certified CMTL memory, and its a 512 DDR400, hopefully thats enought information, so i was thinking about adding about 1gb more, but im not sure what brand of ram goes well with mine, my mother board can support up to 4gb of ram, and its an ASRock p4v88, with a 2.4ghz intel.

For your board your looking tto get 184pin ram ddr400, OCZ & Corsair are two very good makes, just make sure if your getting dual channel ram to check your motherboard book to see what order they go in (it would be either slot 1 & 3 or slot 2 & 4), if you get dual channel ram and stick your current ram in with it they will not run in dual channel mode. Also reading your motherboard book i seen that if you want to use all 4 slots you will only be able to install ddr333.

I always go with Crucial myself, got it running in 3 machines here. Their web site has a good memory selector tool too, just tell them your manufacturer, motherboard, or model and they tell you what to use.

For Asrock you may have to select other manufacturers in the drop down list on their site, all mine were Asus boards.

alright thanx guys, that really helps knowing what brand to go with, but i was also going towards the heat spreaders or could i buy them heat spreaders seperatly form the ram sticks, because i believe i did see them at this computer store near my house, or would i be better off just buying the whole ram/heatspreaders all at once, and once again would i go with corsair or another brand because of the heatspreaders

Yeah you can buy them for your ram, to be honest apart from them looking good there not much point in exspecaly buying them just for the heatsinks because you can just buy them from your local PC shop and add them your self.

Well it depends, i mean if you overclock or play games for hours then yeah, any type of heat conductor will help keep the system stable.

i did play a game for a little bit, but im thinking about going into battlefield 2, so thats y im asking, and i heard that having 1.5ghz is whats its reccomended for it, so thats y i was asking about the heat spreaders comming with the ram, and the addition heatspeaders so i can put one on my self on the ram im running right now, and do u think that the ATI 9600 pro 256mb should be sufficient for bf2, im not dying to be playing it on high because i read that medium is sufficent for it because high doesnt make that much of a difference, and im running an intel 2.4ghz, but im pretty sure that i can over clock it to about 2.88ghz as i did with my pc2100 512mb stick, but since i got the pc3200 it lets me oc to 2.88ghz but freezes when i get the games started.

I have a 5700le it far from great but i can play Bf2 on mid with some high settings.
If the ram you decide to get does not have heatsinks then just buy some and add them yourself, they do help make it more stable but it's no biggie if they don't have any because this hardware is tried and tested and should not fall just because a few hours off game play.

i was wondering since i gave my sister a mp3 player, and we were both wondering if there is a way to play it in her car but she doesnt have a cassette player in there, so i was wondering if there was another way to play it in there or get some kind of hardware into it besides installing a new casette player. sorry im pretty sure this is probably a wrong place to post this but i didnt know where or what to search under. thanx

you can get an fm transmitter. you plug that in to the headphones port and then tune the radio in your car to the set station and boom. also depends on if you get a wired or wireless one. wired ones have the other end plugged into the cigarette lighter which is better since you dont need to put in fresh batteries like the wireless one. you hve to remember that the quality will be just okay, you'll be able to hear the music but it'll go on and off since its an fm signal. they cost like $15 on ebay, 20-30 in stores.

I read a report in a PC mag that said heat spreaders on RAM sticks do absolutely nothing to enhance performance (this was backed up by some figures too). This was also admitted by the manufacturers, who said that they added them for aesthetic purposes only!

oh really, lol didnt hear of that one yet, guess i have to do a lil bit more research about them, because i dont feel like spending more money on something thats not even a use besides for the looks, which i dont care really because its inside my case lol

yea, i think i found the answer to those heatspreaders, i just checked out this website, and with the heat spreaders it cooled down the ram by .5c, so not a tremendous difference in cooling, but hey thats only 1 site, now which tell the truth and which dont? i believe we wont know until we try them our selfs
