I can't seem to back up any of my dvd's any more. I upgraded the dvd43 and then went back to the older version and I still get the can't write disc error along with two more errors. I guess I wanted to ask someone who is haveing moderate success with backing up dvd's. What programs and in what order do you use them? I am currently using:
1. dvd43 (activates when I put the disk to be copied (backed up) in)
2. dvd decrypter 3.5.4.0
3. dvd Shrink 3.2 that
4. copyToDVD 3.0.34.58

I also used cloner II and 1click and still get errors. Anyone having success with this let me in on the secret

I don't have the DVD43 on both my pcs. I just use DVD Shrink and burn with Nero. Sometimes I have to use DVD Decrypter to rip in file mode, compress with DVD Shrink, and burn with Nero.
Now both DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are no longer being updated,I sometimes have to activate AnyDVD by slysoft.

What part of the process are you having trouble?

Is it on every movie you are backing up or certain titles?

What kind of errors?

Now that DVD Decrypter will no longer be updated, many people have shifted to DVD Fab Decrypter (also free). There are also other commercial programs that can rip the latest DVDs (e.g. Magic DVD Ripper).

Yes it is on every one, even the ones I previously backed up. The error happens when I burn the disc I am using Fujifilm DVD-R 4.7GB, but after I get the copy onto the hard drive and go to burn it immediately goes to error, intial write to disk or something like thatMaybe I'll try removing all the programs from my hard drive re install without DVD43 and then shrink and burn to see if that works. Any recomendations on software besides Nero? I uninstalled it when the hard drive got wiped. I can't find the s/n or the disk for Nero, but it was a basic version that came with the system anyway so it probably wasn't a good version anyway

Look at the bottom side of your fuji discs that errored out and look for the discoloration if any actual burn took place.

Possible firmware issue with those fuji blanks. It sounds like they are failing at the lead-in phase, your burner's firmware may need updated.

What is your burner brand name and model #?

What is the speed rate listed on those fuji -r's?

How fast are you trying to burn them?

What is the firmware version of your dvd-burner?

Download this free handy tool to ID those fuji discs and it will also tell your your firmware version:
