hi guys
canyou help me i been downing films off kazza with great sucess.running them through virtual dub and then tmpgenc and burning with nero.but now i need help one movie is not supported by tmpgenc the filr info on this film off v/dub is as follows
decompressor -xvid mpeg4 codec
sampling rate-4800 hz
channels 2
compression unkown tag 2000
it does go through virtual dub but not tmpgenc.

Well it probably doesnt because virtualdub probably wouldnt have been able to tell you anything about the file at all! Well, tell me one thing, does it play in windows media player??

So you tried to uncompress the audio in virtualdub or did you try to frameserve from virtualdub???

what i did was
open video
click audio,full processing mode
click audio, conversion,select 44100 high qaultiy 16 bit stereo
click video,direct stream copy
save as avi

No No No, try this
Audio - full processing mode
Audio - compression - no compression pcm
video - direct stream copy
file - save avi!

tryed that and got the following error
the requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format
check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input match those of the requested format

Oh great!! I think there are other ways around that. One thing to try and sorry if you already read this somewhere else but in TMPGEnc, click option - environmental settings. click the "vfapi plug-in" tab and look at the list for directshow. when you find it right click and give it a higher priority until its top of the list. Now try open the file~!

I have been having the same problem, I'm sure with the same file. I have done everything listed above and it now gets 11% into encoding and suddenly crashes giving the message "integer divide by zero" Any additional assistance would be greatly appreciated.

no it does not stick
and why did nero mpeg it but upside down?
there was sound and good picture but upside down.
is there another mpeg prog. i could try?

Try the panasonic mpeg-1 encoder or something! There are a few encoders you can try like avi2vcd aswell!

now when i use nero and pop the cvd into my dvd player, i have excellent video but the audio is about 3 seconds off, i'm about to pull my hair out

Hi, the 2000 tag is indeed Dolby Digital AC3 audio. There is a VirtualDub kludge( isnt there always) called VirtualDub Ac3 . Open the AVI, select Direct Stream Copy and when you select save WAV you will see 2 options, WAV or AC3 audio. Select Ac3 ( ie, MyMovie.ac3). Now you can converts this to a PCM wav file using Px3 Ac3 converter or any one of a number of utilities. PX3 will also Normalise and/or boost your audio at the same time. I have used both of these for dolby DivXs and they work just fine.

Get a copy of virtualdub AC3 from here....
Download the VirtualDub Pack (its the past one on the list I think)cos it has a couple of other useful Vbdub mods in it.

Get a copy of Px3 ac3>WAV converter from here...
http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/ac3towav.html
Put the VDUB AC3.exe in yr VDUB directory where the others live. Run the VirtualDub Ac3.exe and open yr AVI as normal. Select Audio->direct stream copy, then File->Save AS, and you will see file types .wav, .ac3, save as <name>.ac3
Now run Px3 converter and load the .ac3 file, select yr save directory and optionally check Normalise(good Idea) and amplify if you want. Click convert.... VOILA a nice big WAV. Then you can either save a direct stream copy (no audio) of yr avi video, or simply use the original .avi. Open TMPGenc and select the original avi or yr saved video as video source, then yr .wav file as the audio source. Proceed as u want with settings and let 'er rip!!!

Hi svens,
gspot will detect all the codec information in your AVI and tell you whether you have them installed or not, and also whether it will render with directshow filters. It is extremely useful and provides a wealth of information via "details" buttons.... I dont know how I lived without it.

i know im a pain in the ass but done one file with px3 but now keeps crashing at 105 mb on others am i missing a dll file or codec??

Svens... it may be the second file is corrupt. Tr VirtualDub option scan video stream for erros, or grab DivFix and see if that can correct it.
