i don't know which graphic card you're using but here's how i do it with my ati card. go to "display properties," right click on desktop > "properties," then select "settings" tab and click on "advanced." if you have the correct driver installed you'll have a choice for the tv+monitor switch. good luck.

i believe that card supports dual monitors, but someone correct me if i'm wrong. all you'd have to do is get a converter cable to go from vga to the back of your tv, and set up your second monitor to play the movie full screen while still surfing the net on your main monitor.

do you have any information on your card? does it say "dual monitor support" or anything like that anywhere in the manual or on the box?

It may be your comp is not powerful enough...eg bigger power supply or bigger cpu...to run the signal for both.

On Nvidia cards it's easy. Once you have everything hooked up, run the TV Wizard. After that when you right click on a avi/mpg you have an option Play on My TV or Play on My Monitor, or Play on My HDTV if you use component instead of svideo cable and have it connected to a HDTV. If you select play on TV it starts playing and you can minimize the window on the computer and do whatever else you want to do. It only seems to work with AVI and mpg files though, if you switch away from a wmv file it pauses it on the tv, and VOB or mov files doesn't even list the Play On option when you right click them. If you simply double click on a media file it plays on both displays, provided you selected clone display in the TV Wizard.

Sorry mrbrownab, I need to read your messages more thoroughly before posting next time. The TV Wizard is a function of Nvidia graphics card drivers, not ATI. I don't know if ATI has a similar setup or not since I don't use their cards.
