I'm thinking of buying a dl burner. I currently have a 4.7gb burner and I have used dvd decrypter and dvd shrink to make copies of discs. How does it work when you use a dl burner? Can you still use dvd shrink and dvd decrypter? Does dvd shrink recognize the new hardware and automatically turn the setups to 8.5gb burning or do I have to change some settings? OR, do I have to get other programs? thanks again.
Shrink would not be required if you are burning to a DVD-9, no reason to compress or remove anything. But even if you wanted to use Shrink under preferences you can select DVD-9. The easiest way to burn would be to rip with Decrypter as an ISO then burn the ISO to the DVD-9 with Decrypter again.
thanks for the reply. But, if I burn it as in ISO with decrypter, don't I have to change the settings in decrypter to DVD-9? Isn't DVD Decrypter by default setup to burn 4.7gb movies? There are many movies that are like 7 or more gb and I want to burn all of it on to the DVD-9 disc with a dl burner, and decrypter downsizes it to 4.7gb max, right? Thanks again. Is there a guide anywhere to burning it as in ISO with DVD Decrypter?
There are no settings to change. Decrypter checks the size of the ISO to the available space on the inseted media. If you tried to burn an ISO that was too big for the media you will get a warning of "There doesn't appear to be enough space on the disc to burn this image. Would you like to continue anyway?
There are three cases when you don't need to use DVD Shrink at all. They are when you want to do a backup of a
DVD5 to a DVD5
DVD9 to a +R DL disc
DVD10 to a DVD5
The only program you need to use is DVD Decrypter.
