Burner burns DVDs but errors on CDs

I am running Windows XP Home Edition and have a Samsung TSST corp CD/DVDW TS-H552B VGA02 drive. I use the DVD burner to burn DVD ISO images but whenever I try to burn anything CD related it says error. I try burning a CD with iTunes and it starts the lead in and then says error, tried burning a 356mb ISO image on CD and it says error, and tried to burn .bin file on CD and says error. but when I burn something DVD related it never fails. I have tried to restore my computer back to factory settings and it still happens. I have no idea what to do. I would appreciate all the help i can get.
