My PS2 plays DVD-r and DVD+R discs just fine.

DVD5 movies play fine on my PS@..... DVD9 movies stripped to fit DVD5 also play fine...

The only movies that do not play well on my PS2 are movies that have been re-encoded with Rempeg2....these are a biut jittery and sometimes freeze up....

But my Philips stand alone DVD player plays EVERYTHING...and ANYTHING...just fine...

The re-encoded mopvies that appear jittery on the PS2 play perfect on my stand alone DVD player...wierd...

It's not weird, it's a media problem, bad media casues freezing and jittering. It's worse on rempeged movies because they fill the disc and the outside edge of the disc is more difficult to read, hence these problems usually only happen at the end of a film.

Some players are less fussy and will play anything, some are more fussy and will only play quality media.
Your DVD-R drive in your PC will play anything that it burned.

I think this is the lsat time I'm going to write this, as it must be the tenth time.

Maybe we could have a sticky entitled:
"Plays fine on the PC but freezes or jumps near the end of the film on my standalone"

Thanks Malum...

It's not a huge issue with me since I do not often play my DVD's on my PS2...but I just found it a bit odd that it plays fine on the standalone DVD player and not the PS2...

Laser quality maybe??

And I am using Ritek DVD-R...I read that they are one of the better makers out there...but I guess they aren't =(
