I ripped The Ring Two to my hdd with dvdd and anydvd running in the background no problem (or so I thought). I then ran it through dvdremake pro like I normally do removing the garbage I don't want and saving the menu, movie, and extras I do want. I then tried playing the folder from my hdd to be sure I haven't screwed up the structure of the dvd prior to encoding with dvd-rb/cce. Well to my suprise it would open then imediatly stop. Thinking I had screwed up the dvd structure, I tried playing the original folder that dvdd had made. Exact same problem. I reripped the dvd with dvdd and the folder still wouldn't play from my hdd. The dvd BTW plays perfect.

Finally after pulling my hair out, I reripped the dvd again with dvdd only this time without anydvd running in the background. To my amazement it opens and plays perfect. I always rip with dvdd and anydvd running in the background since dvdd is no longer updated but have never come across this before but I will now only use anydvd when it is absolutely necessary. Just thought I would pass this war story on in case anyone has had similiar experiences.

Yes, this is a prime example of why not to have AnyDVD or DVD43 or any other copyright bypassing software loaded/running at the same time as DVD Decrypter. DVD Decrypter does not need help from another program like DVD Shrink does.

The only reason I know that, is cause LIGHTNING UK! (the author/creator of DVD Decrypter) told me.

however, DVD Decrypter is no longer updated. so, eventually, it won't be able to do the newest movies (not sure if it can do all currently). so, you might was well just run AnyDVD in the background with Shrink or some other ripping program going for a lot of what's soon to be released.

True, DVD Decrypter is no longer updated. Although as of right now, it will rip any region 1 disc out there.

There is also another (freeware) alternative, which is DVDFab Decrypter that "is" being updated on a regular basis to compensate for new copyright protections coming out. - http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

To make a long story short, dvdd by itself ripped this dvd without any problems but I'm puzzled as to why when AnyDVD was running in the background the video folder would not play back from my hdd useing a media player (I tried windvd6, powerdvd5, win media player 10, and marks tray player) let alone play back after compressing with DVDCopy3 as a trial just to make sure. Still got me wondering.

@Mort81 hi)
i use cyberlink power 2 go 3 quite a lot and found some time ago that with AnyDVD running it caused all sorts of conflict
i even deleted it and reloaded it several times to make sure i had'nt done it wrong
ended up dumping AnyDVD and running DVD43 instead and no probs since.
but then a lot of ppl have trouble with DVD Decrypter and DVD43 running together, which i do'nt.
so i think it's a case of what works for you, you stick to, regardless of what works for other ppl

Mort........ DVDD is still the KING OF THE HILL! I always use DVDD before I use either or both Remake or Rebuild! I never run AnyDVD or DVD43 while using DVDD unless it is called for! I found the same thing out that you did when using them together when it is not necessary. Even though DVDD is NOT updated it's still the best, and I found that 95% (or more) DVDs can be decrypted by DVDD without help at all! LONG LIVE THE KING!
