It all depends on th video cards standard clock speed. Some cards within the same group have different clock speeds. For example a Gigabyt 7800 has a standard clok speed of 430mhz while a BFG (amongst others) has a standard of 450mhz. I'm sure there are probably other variables that come into play as well.

My rig: Intel Q9650 3.0Ghz, ATI Radeon 4870 X2 2048Mb, 6Mb DDR2 6400 RAM, Asus Rampage Formula X48 Motherboard.

I found out long before i was a noob to this site that it seems some mobos (drivers, programs, games ) work better with one than the other so its is a personal preference. I had an ATI All in Wonder that just would not sync up with my DVR no matter what limited support I got. Sold it, got a cheap Nvidia graphics plus Aver media TV card for the same price and all is well. Maybe cause back then I used Roxio products (reading the Nero love around here reinforced my views), I don't know, just know what works for me.

these alot of sli ready power suppies that have independent power to the motherboard, the video cards, etc.there is also ps that can tune the volts to your memory and video card.id go with a sli ready ps with 2 pci express cables a independent motherboard wire thats 20 or 24 pin and 2\12 volt rails so the power is more evenly distributed to each component.they will cost from 125 usd to 439 usd.its according to your preference.i go with a 550 or higher power supply so if you upgrade your system, you dont have to upgrade your ps again.i have been researching this myself for 2 days now and it gets very confussing, but put ps 550 watt sli in your search engine on the internet and check them out.then look at all the reviews and forums about the ps.you will be able to figure out the best for want you want it to do,there are so many but alot of them have drops in power, not pfc which saves you money on the electric bill[i think]and you want clean power 2.2 so your computer dosent stare for volts.i hope this helped,im in the same boat trying to build a computer for the 1st time.
