Hello guys, I want to copy a 7.8 gb movie to a 4.7 gb disc.
I try to use dvd cloner and dvd shrink, but the video quality of the movies is poor and shows pixels.
I buy a copy of the lord of the rings: return of the king ( it's a copy too) but is with perfect quality (same as dvd, incredible, with menus, etc and everithing that has the original DVD)

I need a software for this (the software that this person use to copy the movie)

Thanks very much.

DVD Shrink is a very good program for encoding of disks, especially if you use deep analysis and quality enhancements. If you are getting pixellation in your backups then you are using cheap media, burning too fast and your firmware is not up to date on your burner. If you want the best then try free program DVDRebuilder and CCE. Here is the forum you can read more about he programs, both are free.

arniebear,

I was suprised to see you recommend RB/CCE. I was going to recommend it. I thought you were a diehard DVD Shrink fan. Have you tried RB/CCE yet?

@Mort81

I know how highly everyone thinks of it so I recommended it. I did try it, finally got it to work, well kind of. I am not sure what I did wrong, I got sound but the video came out with bottom half of screen black and the upper had unviewable video it was all scrambled. I plan on giving it another try.

Hmm, strange. See if one of the pros can help you figure out the problem in the dvd-rb forum. Jdobbs (the author) is there quit a bit.

maxidb maybe the copy you got was done on dual layer disc have you checked the disc size and I would also recommend DVD-RB to get the best quality.

2 WD Raptor drives all in Raid
Msi Nvidia 7800gtx

I have also noticed that your burner and speed do actually affect picture quality.

Try burning at 4x max if you are not already doing so. Also, make sure you are using high quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

I have compressed movies as far as 52% with DVD Shrink and there is very little difference in Quality. The differences only show when I would be looking at something at the background like a clock or something, but it is not that big of a difference. The most important part of compressing with Shrink is to use the Deep Analysis feature.

You have to make sure you get rid of everything you do not need. If you will not use DTS, get rid of it. If you are not Spanidh, get rid of Spanish Audio. Also compress things like Menus and Extras as much as you can. If this is still a problem, use Shrink's Re-author mode and do a movie only backup with the audio of your choice. Most movies will be somewhere around 85% compression, only longer movies will be less (around 70%). Also, beware of Sony Movies. Not only do they have the structure protection, the movies are loaded with Extras.

Which movie are you trying to back up now? Maybe someone that has done it could recommend settings.
