my fsb is 176 according to everest app and it showing i overclocked to a 2.19\2.2 if i change the pc2700 333 with pc3200 400 will i be able to overclock higher and get faster.i have a axp 2800+ barton 333 and a gf 6800 gt and a fic au31 motherboard which has a nforce2 chipset.it also says the comp will support it through cruicle memory.com but will the processor be able to be tricked into changing to 400 please help im all confussed,but you always have to have 2 matching rams you cant do it with one 1gb of pc3200 ddr400 huh. thanks

Yes you will be able to overclock higher and you cpu will run quicker, it is also better to use 2 x 512 sitcks when overclocking a barton.
To trick the cpu in to running at 400 you need to increase the fsb to 200..... your barton has a 333fsb at stock this equates to a 166fsb in your bios settings, so increasing you bios fsb to 200 will give you the 400 your looking for
Bios 166 x 2 = 333/ 176 x 2 = 352 your current setting / 200 x 2 = 400
to work out your cpu speed take your fsb & multiply it by 12.5 i.e 166 x 12.5 = 2075mhz/ 176 x 12.5 = 2200mhz / 200 x 12.5 = 2500mhz
If your going to increase yours to 200 then do it in small steps of fsb increase don't go straight to 200 as it might not be stable, also get a decent HSF on your cpu as the 2800 runs kinda hot when you crank it up, and read the link to overclocking these cpu's in the other post of yours i answered as you will find it very helpful ..... just bookmark the page so you can go back to it & use it for reference ;)

THANKS ALOT.I WAS WONDERING ALSO WHAT DO THE TIMINGS DO IM SET AT 2.5 8 4 4 IN THE BIOS. IM JUST RAISING STUFF BUT I WONDERED WHAT IT REALLY DOES.I ALSO GOT A VOLCANO 11 HEATSINK AND FAN ABOUT 4800 FAN SPEED AND ARTIC SILVER.RIGHT NOW THE BOARD AND CPU DOESNT GET OVER 47C AND ITS ABOUT 79F ROOM TEMP

thanks alot 101 comp clocking still confussing but im starting to understand alittle bit why i am doing this.one more thing if you overclock your comp and the device manager donsnt say,lets just say mine is a 2800+ which runs at 2.08 mhz and i overclock to 2.2 mhz it dosent really do anything unless the comp gets faked out and reads 3000+ right or wrong? im not really sure if im doing it right.i overclocked to 2.19 but the comp still reads a 2800+ but i downloaded everest[app that tells everything about the comp] and it states its a 2800+ overclocked to a 3000+ which should i believe. hey thanks for all the schooling i owe you bigtime jonni3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
