Can anyone confirm or maybe help me out .. I just started burning .. I currently have a Plextor PX-716A burner .. running dvdshring newest version I believe.. and have Nero 6 as my burner .. burning the actual dvd takes about 7-8 mins .. but when it first analyzes then goes to decoding .. the decoding process takes alomst a hour .. it runs at a 2.7k usually per sec and i get up to 55-70mb of buffer a sec .. my brother told me his laptop has a sony dvd burner and he decodes at 6.1k or so and it takes him 20mins most to burn a dvd.. while it takes me just over an hour .. is this correct for burning .. or am I missing something O.o .. thanks

It all depends on your computer's specs i.e. processor and ram. May be you have the "Deep Analysis" check on DVD Shrink that's why it's taking you longer to do the encoding process.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

Times with DVD Shrink vary greatly depending on your computer specs and how you compress a movie. Movies with little compression can take me as little as 5-7 minutes, but movies with a lot of compression and deep Analysis can take me a couple of hours.

Your CPU is the biggest factor here. If your brother has a 3.6ghz CPU and you have a 2.4ghz, then this will be the difference. Also, sometimes putting the movie to your hard drive first (with Decrypter or some other ripper) will speed things up a bit rather than the "open disc" feature in Shrink.

Also Deep Analysis greatly improves quality, and does a double pass, first analyzing the motion and then finally compressing the video. This will at least double the total encoding time. I suggest you always use this option, as doubling the encoding time only happens once per DVD, but the Quality difference lasts forever.

Nicely stated. I like it and completely agree.
