i have an old E Machine and i want to install windows XP on it. I also bought a new dell a while back and it came with the XP disc for re-installing windows XP. I want to use that XP disc if it is possible so i dont have to buy another one. The E Machine was given to me so i dont know much about it...Except it has 128mb ram, duron processor, 16 gig. HDD, and windows 95. i also need to know how to find out the system specs. i have tryed going to control panel and opening the system icon but it dosent tell me much.

is the xp cd a ms disk or emachine? is it a restore disk or a full blown xp? can get away with 128meg but should at least double it to perform faster.

see what happens when booting off the dell cd on the emachine. it will either work, might have problems with drivers that can be fixed after or not work at all.

the bios doesn't contain files, only your hd does.
